Abstract: A simple and highly sensitive method for the determination of Gemifloxacin Mesylate in bulk drug and pharmaceutical formulations. The method is based on the reaction of Gemifloxacin Mesylate with Tb3+ in the presence of hexamine at pH 7.2. The fluorescence was measured at 545 nm after excitation at 271 nm. The calibration graph was linear over the range 0.05–1.3 µg mL, with minimum quantification limit (LOQ) of 0.024 µg mL and minimum limit of detection (LOD) of 7.65×10-3 µg mL. The proposed method was successfully applied for the determination of this drug in its dosage forms.

Abstract: Quality protein maize (QPM) has approximately twice tryptophan (Trp) and lysine (Lys) concentrations in protein compared to normal maize. Because several genetic systems control the protein quality of QPM, it is essential to regularly monitor Trp and/or Lys in QPM breeding programs through laboratory analysis. The objective of the study was to evaluate the capability of Near –Infrared Reflectance Spectroscopy (NIRS) method in determining tryptophan content of QPM which enhance the efficiency of QPM research efforts by partially replacing more expensive and time-consuming wet chemistry analysis. 268 maize samples were used to develop NIRS models for Tryptophan content. Standard error (SEC) and coefficient of determination for the calibration were 0.007 and 0.76 respectively. When the NIRS model was subjected to external validation with 40 S2 lines from QPM breeding populations, the standard error of prediction (SEP) for validation and coefficient of determination between NIRS and the chemical data were 0.008 and 0.84 respectively. Therefore, from the result it is confirmed that NIRS model is effective tool for screening of QPM from normal maize.

Abstract: The experiments were conducted to measure the important parameters in quality of treatment by addition of four different amounts of nano two metal oxides 1, 1.5, 2 and 2.5 gr. The value of zeta potential and oil and grease is investigated. The results show the better performance of nano ferric oxide in coagulation and flocculation by lower amount of zeta potential, ammonia, phenol and sulfide and oil, grease elimination than aluminum oxide. However the value of slug volume index in treated wastewater by nano ferric oxide is higher than that is obtained with nano aluminum oxide. The obtained results show the higher values of zeta potential in about 1%, 3%, 11% and 5% using aluminum oxide than those are obtained using nano ferric oxide show the better coagulation and flocculation in using nano ferric oxide nano coagulant.
